The sequence: passengers wait behind the barrier → the train arrives → doors open → passengers board and alight → doors close → the train departs.
Suicide Prevention at Train Platforms
A barrier of guard rail and tempered glass along the platform edge, fitted with doors that open only after a train has come to a complete stop and close again before it departs for its next stop. The purpose is singular: make it impossible to reach the track area from the platform.
- Doors synchronized to the train — they open on arrival and close before departure
- Tempered glass keeps the platform open, visible, and well lit
- Also prevents accidental falls, dropped objects, and trespass onto the right-of-way
- Reduces service disruption caused by track incursions
